The inaugural Youth Networking event, jointly organised by WA Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Chung Wah Association, was successfully launched on the evening of June 16. A packed room of members and guests listened to a fun and informative talk on Chinese social media presented by Ms Lucia Chen. They also enjoy refreshments provided by sponsors Golden Wings wine and Hayashi Japanese Restaurant.
Lucia, who is managing director at Sensory Media Agency, introduced some of the unique features of the newest blockbuster Chinese social media apps – Bilibili and Red (小红书, Little Red Book). She also reviewed statistics and features of Wechat, the dominant Chinese social media app. These mobile apps are extremely popular in China and amongst overseas Chinese. They have proven to be excellent sales and marketing channels. The multi-talented Lucia is also a dancer and has opened a popular dance studio in Perth. She actively promotes her dancing activities through all forms of social media, including a 60K+ subscriber YouTube channel.
The evening was hosted by Ms Vivienne Deng, who is a Chung Wah youth committee member. Mr Khoon Tan and Mr Chen Ting, respectively the presidents of WACCC and Chung Wah, were present, as were many council members and youth committee members from both associations.
The next Youth Networking event is scheduled for July 21.
