It was a pleasure to attend the One Year to Go celebration at Scarborough Amphitheatre, where the exciting announcement was made that Perth will host nine matches of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026™!
Football West Chair Sherif Andrawes joined Deputy Premier Rita Saffioti, AFC Women’s Asian Cup Local Organising Committee COO Sarah Walsh, and representatives from the four already-qualified teams—Australia, China PR, Japan, and Korea Republic—to mark the occasion.
Perth’s Optus Stadium will set the stage for the Opening Ceremony and the tournament’s first match, featuring the Matildas, along with two quarter-finals and a semi-final. The tournament runs from March 1-21, 2026, with the final at Sydney’s Stadium Australia.
